Local Priorities Drug dealing/ drug use Message

I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

During the previous month, a group of individuals were stopped and detained under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act within the Green Dragon Estate. As a result of the search, officers recovered a significant quantity of controlled drugs alongside a large “Rambo‑style” knife, indicating clear intent linked to serious criminality.
PC Dan Roach was subsequently allocated the case file for further investigation. Recognising the ongoing issues relating to drug activity and youth‑related anti‑social behaviour within the Brentford East area, I approached this investigation with a proactive and thorough mindset, understanding the broader impact such offences have on the local community.
The investigation proved complex, requiring detailed evidence gathering, statement taking, and sustained liaison with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). Following a period of consultation and evidential review with CPS, sufficient grounds were established to proceed with charging the primary suspect.
As a result, the main offender received a 12‑month suspended sentence in addition to a financial penalty imposed by the court. This outcome reflects the seriousness of the offence while also contributing to wider efforts to disrupt drug‑related activity and reduce associated harm.
Work of this nature will continue as part of our ongoing commitment to tackling crime and anti‑social behaviour, with the aim of ensuring Brentford East remains a safe and secure environment for those who live and work within the community.
